Cherry Supreme Salad

1st layer
1 6 oz. package Strawberry Jello
2 cup boiling water
2 21 oz. can cherry pie filling

2nd layer
1 8 oz. pkg cream cheese softened
1 4.3 oz. Lemon Cook & Serve pudding
3 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 container cool whip

1. Dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 2 cups boiling water. Stir in cherry pie filling, then spread the mixture into a 9x13 inch pan, and refrigerate until nearly set, about 45 min.

2. Prepare Lemon Cook & Serve pudding as pkg. directs. Mash the cream cheese and stir in mayonnaise. Pour the Lemon pudding  into the cream cheese mixture and stir until smooth. Fold in the cool whip. Spread the mixture over the chilled cherry layer and sprinkle with marshmallows & chopped walnuts if desired. Chill  in the refrigerator until fully set, about 2 hours.

Does it need 2 cups boiling water or just one? The ingredient list says 2, but the directions say 1. I was just about to make this, but don't want to do it wrong.
