- 1 cup sunflower seed
- 2 quarts water
- 1/2 cup salt
Directions:

Place water and salt in a crock pot.

Rinse sunflower seeds and remove any plant or flower head matter.

Add sunflower seeds to water & salt in crock pot.

Simmer water and seeds 6-8 hours.
5. When done, strain water& seeds through collander & allow seeds to dry on paper toweling.
6. Do not rinse.
7.Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
8. Spread seeds on a cookie sheet& bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
9. Stir frequently.
10.Remove from oven when seeds are slightly browned& fragrant.
NOTE: for salt free seeds, simply eliminate the first 7 steps& go straight into oven preparation (Step 8).
